FitzGerald and Sons Plumbing Company was founded in 1984 by Richard P. FitzGerald Sr. with the intention of becoming a broad based plumbing contracting company.
Richard P. FitzGerald Sr. was a general superintendent for thirty years at the James McCullagh Company, Inc., a very large plumbing and mechanical contracting company based in Plainview, New York. As general superintendent, Richard FitzGerald Sr. ran the outside labor force of sixty plus men on projects including Nassau Coliseum, Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant, and Stony Brook University Hospital and Health Science Center.
Richard P. FitzGerald Sr. was soon joined by his two sons, Richard P. FitzGerald Jr. and Michael S. FitzGerald. In the first few years in business, FitzGerald and Sons Plumbing Company aggressively pursued gaining market share for the service division. The new construction/alteration division started slowly performing plumbing work on postal facilities, industrial plant expansions, and medium sized commercial work. Over the next 5 years, 1985-1990, FitzGerald & Sons Plumbing Company steadily grew in terms of its available employee base, management capacity and ability to handle larger projects.
In 1990, a decision was made to aggressively pursue hospital renovation and related healthcare facility projects. Drawing from the extensive hospital experience Richard P. FitzGerald Sr. brought from his background in New York, FitzGerald & Sons Plumbing Company was awarded the plumbing contract for the Women's Center renovation at Southern Regional Medical Center.
From 1990 to 1993, FitzGerald & Sons Plumbing Company successfully completed projects at Southern Regional Medical Center, Wesley Woods Geriatric Center, Griffin and Newnan Regional Radiation Therapy Center. They also performed service work and smaller projects at West Paces Medical Center, Metropolitan Hospital, Peachtree Regional Hospital and Grady Hospital... READ MORE |
